We all must be quite familiar with terms like Rich Mindset or Billionaire Mindset. Well, Have you ever heard of this term, wellness mindset?

The dictionary says the word mindset is “the established set of attitudes held by someone.” A wellness mindset is a set of attitudes about wellness. I believe this is the key to living a long and healthy life. For me, a wellness mindset sets the tone for all the desires and decisions I make regarding health and wellness. I’ve noticed how much simpler it makes life. I don’t think about specifics or details about what I eat or how much I exercise. When the mindset is present, everything else follows. And like with anything, it can be developed.

I like to think of a wellness mindset like a garden. If the garden is constantly nourished, watered, and cared for, it will grow to develop delicious food. And if neglected, it won’t. This is what it looks like to me. We’re already whole and complete. Health and wellness are already present within each of us. Healthy food is delicious and decadent. It’s simple and easy to make healthy food to eat. We are destined for health and longevity. Mother nature provides everything we could possibly need and want. We are active and inspired by nature. Now compare these attitudes to what we normally say and feel. I have to work so hard to be healthy. It’s so difficult to eat well. I can’t have any tasty foods when I’m trying to be healthy. I have no will power over resisting tasty foods. I need to work out more. I already failed at my diet and exercise goals. Do you see the difference? A wellness mindset is based in abundance, not lack. It’s all about what we have, not what we don’t have. It allows for a beautiful positivity and ease to engulf our lives.

Let me give you some personal examples. I cut out sugar completely from my diet over a year ago. I don’t say “crap, I can’t have a Dr Pepper anymore.” But instead, I think “wow, this piece of fruit tastes like a candy bar!” I don’t stress about how much I exercise any more, but just enjoy staying active as much as my schedule allows. I don’t say “I didn’t hit my goal of running 25 miles this week”, but instead I think “I get to be outside moving my body again soon.” It’s a subtle shift in how we look at things, but it makes such a difference. I’m not saying to not set goals or to strive to improve, but rather to see things through a lens of abundance and positivity.

I have a few mantras to say daily to help us develop a strong wellness mindset. ”I have true wellness. My body is whole, complete, and strong. My mind and body are completely balanced. I can hear my body’s needs. Natural food is delicious and decadent. My body is capable of anything I need or want. Mother nature will provide everything I need. I’m destined to health and wellness, not sickness or disease.” Try saying these for 5-10 minutes daily. You will quickly develop a change in attitude which will help grow your wellness mindset. Another technique is to pause each time you have a thought or decision about your health and envision that thought or decision through the lens of a wellness mindset. Again, a wellness mindset is such an important aspect of living a life of health and wellness.
